Goetz Landscaping began as a small hobby garden at the home of Luke and Michelle Goetz. Luke, a farmer and seedsman, and Michelle, a part-time nurse, began their hosta garden by splitting some of the large, overgrown plants of Luke’s mother’s beautiful hosta garden. As they collected more and more varieties and expanded the garden surrounding their 100 year-old farmhouse, neighbors and passersby would stop to admire their work. As more and more people asked where they could buy these amazing plants, Luke and Michelle recognized the need and began retailing starts from their hostas.
As the hosta business continued to grow, greenhouses were erected and the variety of plants continued to grow to include several other types of perennials. To further bolster the line, Goetz Hosta farm began offering nursery stock to compliment the wide selection of Hostas and perennials.
As more and more people visited the hosta farm, several customers began to inquire about landscaping services. Again, recognizing the need, Luke and Michelle began offering landscaping services. As the jobs continued to add up, Luke and Michelle realized the need to begin a full fledged landscaping business. Beginning with the help of his brothers, Luke quickly obtained the reputation of doing quality work at a fair price. As the business grew, the retail operation was phased out.
The decision was recently made to suspend the landscape side of the business to focus on farming and agricultural irrigation. Lawn fertilization/weed control services, along with lawn sprinkler service is still offered.
Luke and Michelle are still the owners of the business and oversee the day-to-day operations. Luke is the owner and operator of Goetz Irrigation Services, and Michelle is now a stay at home mom. The only thing that has grown faster than their business is their family. Luke and Michelle have been blessed with eight children in just 15 years.
